I have very sensitive skin. I have 2 shades – pale and beet red. If anything irritates my skin it will immediately flare-up and have redness for days. I have a very hard time with cleansers with chemicals, especially make-up remover pads. I also work full-time, wearing makeup every day, and some nights need a quick way to remove makeup and clean my face before bed. The problem was all of the products I saw had chemicals that I know reduce my face to a red, splotchy mess.
This recipe below is a natural blend that I found worked best for my oily, sensitive skin. It removes makeup completely without irritating the skin. I’ve used this for 6 months now and absolutely love it! Plus, it isn’t expensive and has reduced waste with a reusable container for storage.
- 1/2 teaspoon – Baby Bee Shampoo & Wash – petroleum and alcohol free!
- 4 drops – Melaleuca Essential Oil – keeps them fresh and heals skin
- 1/4 cup – filtered Water
- 15-20 Cotton Rounds
- 1/2 pint sized Mason Jar – too keep them moist
What is the savings?
For something comparable in chemical reduction, a brand like Jason is $7.18 for 75 pads = 10¢ a pad
First Batch – With the cost of the Mason Jar – $1.20
Baby Bee Shampoo & Wash – 5¢ + Melaleuca Essential Oil – 4¢ + Cotton Rounds – 50¢ + Mason Jar – 61¢ = $1.20
Every Batch After 59¢ = 3¢
The only real consumable in this is the cotton rounds. I did also consider just using a wash cloth with this recipe and further reducing this cost and waste. Very conceivable to do so, for sure. I decided that keeping something so simple readily available makes me more likely to clean my face each night with how busy my schedule has become. I do find I still need to rinse my face after using the pads.
