I posted before about making our own Windex. I know not everyone wants to make their own cleaners, in fact, I didn’t make my own cleaners until this year. What I used to do was refill my cleaning spray bottles with a bulk product like Pine-Sol. I just like the smell of the orange Pine-Sol, plus I got a couple of large bottles of it for pretty cheap using a coupon (go here for their current coupon) and combining it with a bi-yearly cleaning supply sale. This refill method will work with many kinds of liquid cleaners, so pick one you love and let’s get started.
Refilling Cleaning Sprays
Reuse an empty bottle of cleaning spray. You may rinse it if you like, especially if you are using a different scent.
Purchase your favorite bulk liquid cleaner. Hopefully you had a coupon and bought it on sale!
Using a small funnel, pour about 1 tablespoon of bulk liquid cleaner into the empty spray bottle.
Slowly fill up the bottle with water. I let the water drizzle into the bottle very slowly for the least amount of foam.
You can do it the other way, put water in first and then cleaner, but I found it mixes itself if I put the cleaner in first.
What’s the Savings?
One 32 fl. oz. bottle of liquid spray cleaner = approx. $ 2.96 depending on the brand
One bottle of 48 fl. oz. bottle of PIne-Sol = $ 2.96 at my local Wal-mart (would be $ 1.96 with the current $1 off coupon)
1 Tablespoon = .5 fl. oz.
